At Southern Spring & Stamping, Inc., we understand the value that fourslide and vertislide forming methods can provide to our customers. Our fourslide, multislide, and vertislide presses offer a variety of advantages for the production of small metal parts with complex geometries. With low tooling costs, material savings, and the ability to produce as many as 300 parts per minute from strip or wire, these forming methods are a rapid and economical means for manufacturing close tolerance components.

On a fourslide press, tools are attached to four moving slides. The slides approach the metal strip or wire from four different angles oriented 90° from one another, with cam mechanisms regulating the movement. Simultaneous or successive strikes from different tools bend and twist a metal blank into shape with a high degree of accuracy and repeatability. The ability to manipulate the workpiece from multiple angles allows the formation of complex shapes that would be difficult or impossible to achieve using progressive or transfer die methods. Feeding blanks with the finished width or wire of the correct diameter into the machine eliminates waste, and parts exit the machine fully formed.

Our presses handle blanks with dimensions of up to 2” in width x 18” in length. Maximum sheet thickness is 0.093”, while maximum wire diameter is 0.1875”. Standard tooling is available, and we have a strong team of in-house tool and die makers for applications that require a custom solution. The simplicity of setup and speed of production allows us to manage short, medium, or long runs very efficiently. We also offer a number of value-added processes, including in-house deburring, painting, and packaging to satisfy your end-to-end production needs.
